Here are some great tips for the gentlemen out there looking to try to perfect their skin for a special event or just for your daily routine. Firstly, make sure you start with a fresh clean face. Then moisturize! Yes men, it is important for you to moisturize your face too. Be sure that the moisturizer you choose is loaded with skin protecting power. SPF of 15 or higher is the magic number. 


WHAT DO YOU NEED?


1: Foundation

Secondly, it is important that you determine your skin tone. Meaning, are you, Light? Medium? Tan? Then you must determine which method you feel most comfortable using. Now there are a few. You can choose to use a foundation, which is applied to the entire face and neck.This can be a tad intimidating. If you really have no clue about the proper application, there is a very informative male makeup artist on Youtube that can give you a quick how to 101 on proper foundation application among other really great tips. He's very to the point, no extra rambling, so he is ideal for the no muss, no fuss viewer. Now get yourself some foundation. I suggest L'oreal True Match. You can find this anywhere. Walmart, drugstores and Ulta. It's very practical and has an excellent array of colors. The colors are separated into 3 categories: Warm, Cool and Neutral. On the bottles cap you will find a number it may look something like this: W7, C7 or N7. The W, is warm. The C is cool and the N is neutral. The best way I can explain how to determine whether you are a Warm, Cool or Neutral is to just swatch them. Getting into pink, yellow and red undertones can be a bit confusing. Another great and quick way to find out your skin tone is to go to the mall at some place like Macy's or a Sephora or Ulta. The ladies at the makeup counters will match the foundation for you. The only downside to this is you are going to be paying a pretty penny for the product you choose. I am going to let the ABOVE VIDEO video by GossMakeupArtist explain how to apply. I find it is better to have a visual for beginners. Foundation is really going to help conceal many problem areas. A flawless appearance. You can also use a mineral foundation. This is extremely simple to use. You can find this in Walmart and drugstores as well. Here is video number 2, an EXCELLENT very fast and simple tutorial from GossMakeupArtist again, using the mineral foundation as well as blush, bronzer, eyeliner and a really cool method if you have some stubble.

2: Tinted Moisturizer


Tinted moisturizer is an excellent way to even out your skin tone. There are many great inexpensive brands out there with an array of colors. This is going to be a light coverage.  Pretty fool proof as well. This too is applied to the entire face. I find that this is a more appealing method  for men. Foundation can tend to feel a bit heavy and requires a bit of maintenance where as to this doesn't.The blending is very quick and simple with a tinted moisturizer. Simply apply with fingers or brush (brushes mentioned in the above video) all over your face. There are other steps that can be combined with this or the foundation to achieve a flawless finish.


3: Concealer


Concealing can be used on its own or in combination of the 3 above mentioned methods. Now, if you choose to use concealer and a foundation or tinted moisturizer I suggest applying your foundation or tinted moisturizer first then apply concealer to your trouble areas. Meaning, blemishes, dark circles, sun and age spots etc. Applying concealer after, will insure that it doesn't slide off the face. For long lasting results you will need to purchase a translucent powder. The translucent powder will set both the foundation/tinted moisturizer and concealer.  You need to match the concealer to your skin tone as well.


4: Have oily skin? Use a Silica based TRANSLUCENT POWDER

Silica based powders are excellent for those who have oily skin. It does a great job of keeping excess shine at bay. Now, this is important. When you are shopping for a translucent powder make sure that it is a MATT FINISH. Some of these powders contain shimmer and glitter on a guys face is not what we are shooting for unless you are into that sort of thing. My suggestion for a great powder is ELF HD Powder, A little goes a long way. This is about $6 at Target or on their websitehttp://www.eyeslipsface.com/studio/face/powder/high_definition_powder Yes the powder is white, DO NOT be alarmed. When applied sparingly it is wonderful. You will not look like a ghost. What it is going to do is give an airbrushed appearance and tame those unwanted oils! The best way I find to apply, is to tap a small amount into the cap and swirl your brush around in it. Tap off any excess and lightly buff all over face with a large fluffy brush. 5: BRONZER


Bronzer's are a great way to warm up your skin tone. When purchasing a bronzer this too needs to be a MATT FINISH. These too come with shimmer in them. I suggest using a powder bronzer and forgoing the cream or foam variant. I just think it is a less complicated way to achieve that healthy beach glow. When using this apply again with a large fluffy brush, starting at the hairline at the hollow of the cheeks curving it down towards the chin. Where are the hollows of your cheeks? Here's how to locate them. Make a fishy face. Where your cheeks suck in should be right below the cheekbone. This is where you apply the bronzer. Now apply a bit to the temples and top of the forehead near the hairline. Now apply to the jawbone area. You can also apply to the sides of nose to create a shadow that will make the nose appear slimmer. Be sure to blend well where all bronzer is applied. Using this method is called contouring. It is going to give the face a more masculine chiseled appearance. I am going to post another excellent video below by GossMakeupArtist that gives you a step by step on men's makeup.

6: Lip Balm


Apply your favorite lip balm! This is just a step to make sure your lips always appear healthy and not cracked or dried out. If you're going to go to all the trouble to make your face appear flawless it only makes perfect sense that your lips look great too.


7: Man liner


This is one of those steps you can choose to do or omit all together. Most men who sport this always use a black liner. All you do is apply it to the top inner rim of the eye. This is going to give your lashes a fuller affect. You can also apply to your lower inner rims. This isfor those who want an edgier look! I suggest getting something that is water proof because if it's not it is going to smear and become very messy looking. 


7: SIMPLICITY


Now if you do not  want to get into contouring or highlighting and you just want an easy quick and simple way. Just apply a tinted moisturizer or mineral foundation, conceal any problem areas and apply the translucent powder and some lip balm and off you go! Ahhhhh! A tall drink of refreshing Lemon aid for the eyes! Benefit Lemon aid that is! This stuff is great!!!! Very easy to use. It's simple. Just pat a little of this on your lids and under the eye and instant brightness and neutralization of those icky unwanted discoloration's! Look wide awake in seconds! No muss, No fuss. This can be used all by itself or as an eyelid primer before eyeshadow application. Wonderful product to have if you just wanna get out the door quickly. Just pop a little foundation or tinted moisturizer all over the face apply this to lids and under the eyes, and a pat of your favorite lip gloss! Voila! Out the door you go looking fresh and awake:-D If you have oily lids I do suggest setting this with a translucent powder or an eyeshadow primer like Mac Paint Pot in Painterly or an Urban Decay Primer, otherwise product can crease. 

This product can be found online or at your local Ulta and Sephora for about $18. This product is suitable for most skin tones.

Oh dear! Oh dear! If you are anything like the average woman, you probably look at yourself in the mirror and the first thing you pick on yourself about is your dark circles and or droopy puffy eyes! Well pick on yourself  NO MORE! I have a few items that are reasonably priced that will diminish the dark and shed some light and some bring back the youthful come hither look again!

The first product is most definitely excellent for getting rid of those dark circles! Again another product by AVON! Avon really seems to know what they are doing when they formulate their Anew skincare line. This little gem in a glass jar is Fan-Freaking-Tastic! I do suggest only using this around your eyes at night after your nightly facial routine because if you get it in your eyes it can have a slight sting. After applying let it absorb DO NOT rub your eyes! It will sting. Now, where can you get this and how much? Well Ebay and Amazon have this stuff. Avon stopped selling it. Why? Who knows? They are always pushing out the older Anew products to spotlight the new. I wish they would just STOP that. They have so many amazing products that you have to buy from individual sellers who hike the price up a bit...Which brings to the price. If you get this from Amazon.com  $44.99 + shipping a bit more than I payed originally. It looks like it's going for $19.99 at the "Buy It Now " price. So it's considerably cheaper on Ebay...Either way it's worth every penny! This has been my go to product for those dark circles and it is honestly the only one I have tried that without a doubt works!

Now for those Saggy puffy bags under your eyes! I am currently in love with DermaSilk 90 Second Eye Lift! This product is wonderful for reducing that puffiness dramatically and lifting the eye. I can always tell when I'm rushing to do my makeup, after it's all on, that I forgot to put it on. It really does make your eyes that much better with it. You can find this at Wal-Mart and pretty much any drugstore. It costs $29.99 + tax. This too is worth every penny!

Now for a cheaper alternative but not as great as the above mentioned product, is, NEUTROGENA Ageless RESTORATIVES Instant Eye Reviver. This does calm down the puffiness a little on the first use, but it is more one of those, "MUST USE OVER TIME" for best results. I prefer instant results when it comes to puffiness and sagging. You can get this pretty much anywhere even grocery stores sometimes. The average price is about $15.99. There are always coupons online that you can print off to save a few bucks on this product and the DermaSilk. I will include some links to the coupons for you guys.

I don't know about you guys but I hate reapplying my lipstick when I am out, whether it may be dancing or out to dinner or even when I'm off to do a Clients makeup! So, with that said below will be a report card on my personal picks for great long lasting kiss proof, dining proof, cocktail proof lipsticks! Enjoy! PS I kept it real...Meaning, I'm keeping your wallets in mind! There are just some things that are just as great from the drugstore & it is not at all necessary to break the bank obtaining it!

This one here is Maybeline Super Stay 24....

It is duo ended. One side is the pigmented color with wand applicator & the other side is a clear lipbalm. It comes in 30 shades total! However you probably will not find 30 shades in the drugstore or at Walmart. Most of the colors are in the pink tone range. So all my pink lovers (like this PINK loving crazy GIRL haha) will love that option. Does it last as long as it says? NO! Sorry! :/ But it is long lasting. It has held up through a long dinner, and nights out! It smells very pleasant, like strawberries on your lips! For me that is FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC, because I'm allergic to real strawberries! Boooo! Now for the CONS: Like most of these long lasting lipsticks when worn without the balm it is very drying. So, I highly suggest utilizing the balm portion, wait for the pigment to set though before applying the balm, otherwise you will wash away some of the color unless you want to tone the color down a bit! OVERALL REPORT CARD GRADE: A

This one here is NOT a lipstick! It's a LIP STAIN.

It's by Maybeline & is great for you gals that don't like to wear lipstick. It is a very nice wash of color. Not overdone, vampy or in your face POW! This comes in several colors. Mostly in the pink & peach color zones. THIS PRODUCT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED but you can still find it in drugstores &department stores. You may even get a great deal on clearance since it's discontinued! This is a very comfortable product to use. I haven't experienced any drying of my lips & the color lasts up to 4hrs before needing a touch up! Cons: It's discontinued BOO! Overall Report Card Grade: A- (Because of Discont. factor)

This one here ladies will withstand most anything!

This is Loreal Infallible Never Fail LipColour Compact! It's one of my favorites!! I love, love how this is packaged. It is so convenient. Each side has a tube that is snapped securely into the compact. One side is pigment & other a lipbalm. You just slide up either side and use. It comes in 24 shades, pinks, reds, peaches & browns. This one is a bit pricier than the others though it costs about $11.99 each. It beats paying $40 + though! It has a mirror finish on packaging, so you can check it or touchup if need be. This stuff is for sure  SMOOCH proof! CONS: It too dries your lips out if you do not use the balm. Overall Report Card Grade: A- because of the dry lips factor.

THIS ONE IS SPECIAL! I SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST!

Hello, Maybeline Superstay 14hr Lipstick! Oh, how I love this stuff! It's everything a lipstick should be! This one is practically BULLET PROOF! Lips are cheering everywhere. I swear they quiver with joy as this is applied. Ok, not really. but it is that Lip-stick-tast-ical! It comes in a small compact tube for easy carry along. So it would fit very nicely in a blazer pocket, clutch or those cute dresses that have side pockets. Very easy to conceal not bulky. Don't let the small package fool you. There is plenty of product in there. It comes in 20 shades, Pinks, Reds, Peaches & Browns. This is one of Maybelines newest lines & I must say I'm so pleased with the lipstick that I will be trying the other products as well. CONS: THERE ARE NONE! The crowd is cheering in the makeup world! Overall Report Card Grade: A+++

Todays blog will be the age old battle....Expensive vs Inexpensive.


I personally love a great bargain and am certainly not a LABLE WHORE.(.smiles) Yes from time to time there are some things that are worth paying the extra $ for. Today, however I am challenging that. We all know that CHANEL is one of the worlds most coveted lables whether it be their clothing, handbags, shoes, etc. I own a few things from the house of CHANEL & this foundation being one of them. I have the CHANEL PRO Lumiere in No. 30 and it cost me $65 for 1Fl oz. Now, to some, $65 for a bottle of foundation may not seem unreasonable. For me, from time to time being a makeup artist I have to purchase some "high end" products. How do I feel about CHANEL ProLumiere? I am not sorry I purchased it at all. I love the texture, which is very silky & the finish is dewy. It has excellent coverage & love the spf of 15. The packaging is very lovely & sturdy as well. Bonus: it has a pump so you never waste product. I found this foundation to have a very good lasting capability & photographs very well. The only cons I have for this product is, I wish it looked just a tad bit more natural & of course the pricing. The pricing does not at all make this obtainable for every gal out there. Which Brings me to AVONS HEALTHY MAKEUP FOUNDATIONS!


AVON HEALTHY MAKEUP FOUNDATION in my opinion is very comparable to CHANEL ProLumiere!! I am & always have been a very big fan of Avons products. I am especially in love with their Healthy Makeup line! I find it to be very similar to CHANEL in many ways...It has the same dewy glowing finish, glides on just as smoothly, long lasting & photographs like it's your skin. There are more pro's to Avons though! 1. The price is a lot cheaper...If you go to Avons outlet right now you can obtain a bottle for $3.99 YES!! That is not a typo! At that price you can can afford to use it everyday! 2. There is a larger variety of shades to choose from. 3. You can obtain several samples so that you can choose your own shade. Just get in touch with your local Avon Rep. without feeling the pressure of a makeup counter girl. I know some can make you feel a bit uncomfortable with their glare if you are not looking like a million bucks that day. This way, you can match it in the privacy of your own home without a glaring eye & passerby shoppers. 4. It looks NATURAL from the from the GITTY UP! It is effortless blending! The smell is amazing too! I honestly get more compliments using this foundation than I do CHANEL. The only cons is that it's spf is 10 not 15 , but that's ok as long is there is one. The big BOOOOO.....I believe it is being discontinued! However, DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE! I noticed that there are a lot of people on Amazon.com selling the entire line. So it should be readily available even after your Avon Rep no longer sells it. There is no pump. Plus is, the product does not come pouring out. I have to say that this foundation is one of my best picks to try to date. I couldn't be more pleased. So, head out to the internet world and find a AVON Rep in your area so that you can give this gem a whirl... See....if you just look a little you can find that pot of gold at the end of the makeup rainbow..hehe
